Ferrython and Fireworks Cruises on Australia Day
For the last three decades, one of the most popular events of the Australia Day celebrations around the Sydney Harbour has been the Ferrython. This is a ferry race that begins at the Opera House with the firing of the historical cannon at Fort Denison and after going around the Shark Island and into the Watsonò€™s Bay, returns to finish under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The festivities of the day do not limit to the waters of the harbour but reach out into the harbour sky in the form of the Royal Australian Air Force FA-18 aerial display. Further as the day progresses, spectacular fireworks light up the sky as a fitting finale to the dayò€™s events.
