Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Park

The well preserved natural environment offers all you nature lovers a treat with its beautiful waterfalls, thick foliage and a host of rare animals. It is also a captivating place with many kinds of wild animals, numerous species of birds and many types of plant life.

Animal lovers can catch a glimpse of rare animals such as macaques, porcupines and angurs at this wildlife park. The park also offers protection to other animals such as Malay sun bears, tusked wild boars, slow lorises, deer (both the mouse and barking deer), palm civets, gibbons, monkeys, pythons, cobras, monitor lizards, squirrels and flying foxes.

One of the main attractions of Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Park is the heavenly cascade called Ton Sai. The location is also known for its limestone rock climbing! There is also the Bang Pae waterfall, which although seems relatively small is the largest in Phuket. Situated close to the Bang Pae falls is the Gibbons Rehabilitation Center established in 1992 to repopulate the Khao Phra Thaeo with gibbons that were nearly hunted to extinction.

While there, also check out the three highest peaks of this reserve; Khao Phara (422m), Khao Prathiu (384m) and Khao Bang Pae (388m).

For all you nature lovers looking for accommodation while visiting this exquisite rain forest, the Phuket Hotel will provide you with a comfortable stay.

It is in the province of Munster and has good road and rail connections from Dublin. (Approx under 2 hours drive from Dublin.
