After Second World War, the Holland made tremendous growth in the field of navigation and ship building. Rotterdam has always been one of the major centers of ship building for Holland. The development of Dutch as the business centre was pioneered by Kop van Zuid in early 1990"s. Rotterdam is the home of consumer giant Unilever, and the Mittal Steel Company.

The Grand Depart of the 2010 Tour De France will be hosted in Rotterdam. Rotterdam is a great metropolitan city that attracts people from all over the world and hence is a perfect place to host such events.

Transportation in Rotterdam:

The Hague Airport in Rotterdam is the third largest airport of the country. It is located in the north of the city. It has shown a rapid growth in the past couple of years due to growth of low cost carrier market and today it serves thousands of international and domestic flights.

Trams are also very popular in Rotterdam with over 10 tramlines present in the city which cover total length of 94km.In addition to this the city has 38 bus lines which cover a total length of 433km.
