The Masai Mara Wildlife
The carnivals animals found here include all members of the big five community. Though the black rhinoceros is greatly endangered, it can still be found in the reserve. Hippopotamuses are found in large groups in the Masai Mara and Talek rivers. Cheetahs are also threatened mainly because of disruption of there daytime activities by tourists. As mentioned earlier the best place of game viewing is between the Mara River and the Esoit Oloololo Escarpment. Here you will find the lion and the cheetah patiently preying on the wildebeests and the zebras. The Great migration which is now a world wonder takes place annually on the months of June to October. The wildebeests, zebras and antelopes try to cross the Mara River in and out of the Mara to Serengeti and vice versa as the weather conditions change. They are followed by predators such as the crocodiles, lions and hyenas. This is a spectacular site which attracts millions all over the world.
